These hackers spent a huge amount of time compiling the data Tesla autopilot deciphers - recognizing objects, the percent probability that an object is what it thinks it is, their distance, what lane they're in, whether they're moving, and where the car is able to drive and what route ahead it should take. This is all neatly displayed in this hacker video, where they comment that Tesla is very secretive about the process it actually uses.
