Berry that changes your taste buds

OK, this was so bizarre to me - a tiny expensive fruit that temporarily alters your taste buds so that odd food combinations are suddenly tantalizing...Guinness beer became chocolate shake, Tabasco sauce became doughnut glaze.

If only it weren't so expensive..."The fruit is highly perishable and expensive — a single berry goes for $2 or more."  "Curtis Mozie, 64, a Florida grower who sells thousands of the berries each year through his Web site, www.miraclefruitman.com"

A Szechuan button cocktail is an "electrifying" drink that uses Acmella oleracea (buzz buttons) to create a mouth-numbing, tingling, and taste-altering experience. The flower, containing spilanthol, is usually chewed first, causing a sensation similar to Pop Rocks or a 9-volt battery, which intensifies citrus and ginger flavors.
